While I do believe it is very important to create a positive learning environment, music is to be taken seriously and I do expect regular practice and progress from my students. There are objective standards of measuring a student’s progress and while I don’t apply pressure on anyone to perform beyond their capabilities, I do expect my students to work on the materials, exercises and repertoire that I have assigned them. I will make my expectations clear and if there are any issues I will communicate them.

Regarding cancellations I require at least 24 hours notice. If you cancel the same day of the lesson, the lesson fee will still be due regardless. If you do not show up for a scheduled lesson/don’t notify me that your child will be absent the lesson fee will still be due as well.

Students of all ages are encouraged except for those younger than age four, which I consider too young to start lessons. Students aged four to twelve may have a parent in attendance, students aged thirteen and above will attend the lesson by themselves. All lessons are conducted in my home located on the Santa Barbara Mesa, near Shoreline Park and Santa Barbara City College.
